Next came Kosovo. This is the youngest country on the planet! It is quite war-torn as a result of a bloody war between the Serbians and the Albanians which left the country seriously divided. Muslims and Christians feuding. A north and a south connected by a single small bridge. And everyone everywhere joined by so much more than that which divides them.

From the moment our feet touched Romanian soil, it was non-stop go, go, go! I was particularly excited to begin our trip in Romania, as it was the birthplace of my dear departed Great Grandmother Esther who came to America in search of a better life and three generations later, I am the first of her offspring to return. (And as a US Diplomat no less; only in America!)

Our very own Fran Drescher, President and Visionary of Cancer Schmancer, spent four very busy days participating in the events of the Democratic National Convention. There, she was able to scope out the convention scene, reach out to hundreds of women, and play a part in political history!

I'm fresh off of my trip to D.C. in observance of Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. In one week’s time, we accomplished more than you could imagine. The Cancer Schmancer team met with Senators, Congresswomen (and men!) and reminded them how important it is to fully fund "Johanna's Law," also known as the Gynecologic Education and Awareness Act. This funding will allow the CDC to launch a national campaign to educate women about gynecologic cancers. It's about time!
