Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My dear friends,
Did you know this year alone, an estimated 192,000 women will develop a new case of breast cancer? And this is just in the United States! Today more than ever, we must work together to end late stage diagnosis of cancer through prevention and early detection.
As we recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness month, let us make sure we’re doing everything we can to not only ensure our ta-ta’s are healthy, but our whole bodies! Remember, if you are not feeling right, go see your doctor right away.

Going to the Doctor...

My friends,

Is there a right way and a wrong way to go to the doctor? Of course there is! When we the patient or as I prefer to call us "medical consumers" go to the doctor we must be as prepared, alert and in control of ourselves as if we were interviewing for that prized corporate position that 100 guys want and only one is going to get.

Sure you don't feel well, naturally you're scared but just as the soldier on the frontline battlefields cannot indulge those feelings, neither can you.

In Memoriam of Senator Ted Kennedy

I feel very saddened by the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy. His is a great loss for our country because he was the kind of fearless maverick that we need more of within the halls of Congress.

I feel very blessed to have been able to work with him on the Gynecologic Cancer Education and Awareness Act, a bill that he was instrumental in helping to pass by unanimous consent.

I also had the honor of dining with him, his wife, and his children, including my dear friend Representative Patrick Kennedy, after a Kennedy Centers Honors event. It was a night I will never forget.

Teen Diagnoses Her Own Disease

My dear friends,

Ya think being young means you’re invincible? Honey, if there was an immunity medal, I’d buy them in bulk! When it comes to a medical diagnosis, there's no such thing as being "too old" or "too young". Today we live in a world where those stereotypes are shattered because our health care is constantly evolving.

This Girl Is Celebrating 9 Years of Wellness!

My dear friends,

Ask me why I'm sooo happy. Go ahead, ask me...

Ok, give up? I'm turning nine! That's right, baby. On June 21, 2009, this girl is celebrating nine years of wellness since my battle with uterine cancer. As if that's not blessing enough (trust me, it is), Cancer Schmancer turns two years old on that same day!

I'm telling you all this because despite facing the worst economic crisis of our times, the Cancer Schmancer Movement has forged full steam ahead in revolutionizing the way we women behave when it comes to our own health.
