Deed: Did you know the average home contains more hazardous products than are found in a typical chemistry lab?! Today, throw out one thing in your home that is toxic and potentially cancer-causing and replace it with something that is safer for your health.
Many of us still think of Fran Drescher as everyone’s favorite nanny Fran Fine – even though the show ended its run in 1999! In the 12 years since, the Queens native has divorced her spouse of 21 years, who came out as gay shortly thereafter and is now co-creator of Fran’s new sitcom Happily Divorced, where they share the experience! She’s also successfully battled uterine cancer, which she was diagnosed with in June 2000, written the book Cancer Schmancer and began the Cancer Schmancer movement.
Today on tonic we’re helping the movement towards cancer prevention by taking her advice and suggesting you rid your house of potentially cancer-causing agents you may not even know are there, hiding in regular household items like laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, cosmetics and the containers you use to cook and store your food!
Fran told Tonic:
I am an eleven-year uterine cancer survivor who was misdiagnosed for two years by eight doctors before finally getting a proper diagnosis. I feel like I got famous, I got cancer, and I lived to talk about it, so I’m ‘tasking!’ I wrote the NY Times bestseller Cancer Schmancer to share my story of survival and to prevent what happened to me from happening to others. When I went on my book tour, I quickly learned what happened to me was in fact happening to women everywhere. And so the book became the beginning of a new life mission for me to improve women’s healthcare in America. As President and Visionary of the Cancer Schmancer Movement, I am empowering women across the nation to take control of their bodies and transform from patients into medical consumers. Through education, prevention, and legislation the Cancer Schmancer Movement is dedicated to shifting the focus from finding a cure for cancer to prevention and early detection. We can save lives today!”
To help prevent surrounding yourself with potentially cancer causing agents, replace one thing in your home with something safer. Options include switching out liquid laundry detergent with powder, pesticide-bathed foods with organic food, plastic cookware with stainless steal and cleaning supplies that contain: ammonia, chlorine, or known carcinogens benzene or formaldehyde with ones that don’t.
You can read more about household items to toss and replace at www.switchtosaferproducts.com and find out what toxins to look out for in your cosmetics and personal care products here.
Fran says, “Ninety five percent of all cancers are caused by the environment. If something doesn’t feel right, make the appointment TODAY. Do it! Don’t be an ostrich. Don’t stick your head in the sand. If you catch it on arrival, 95% survival.”
Then settle into your healthy home and let Fran fill your life (or at least 30 minutes a week of it) with laughter by checking out Happily Divorced on TV Land Wednesday nights 10:30/9:/30C. One lucky tonic reader who does today’s deed will receive a real script from the show signed by Fran and the whole cast!!!
Dawlings, we’re sure it will make you LOL.
