BLOG: Kristal Moffett Chemical Free Holiday Shopping

I decided on a few requirements for gift buying this year. The first is that all the gifts must be chemical free. The second is that the gift must be either beautiful or useful, and the third is that I am trying to buy as little as possible from giant stores. It has been easier than I thought. First on the list was my husband who loves great shaving creams. Trying to get him to hear the message on toxins has been interesting. I wouldn’t say I am there 100%, but anytime their is a holiday or chance to purchase him a non-toxic replacement I do it! This year I bought him a shaving cream from Neal’s Yard. I know he is going to love it, and it won’t be off- gassing on his skin or in our bathroom! For my children I bought some great books and some wonderfully made non-toxic toys from Nova Naturals. It is one of my very favorite stores ever for children and I am able to shop and not have to worry about what the items are made from. Most of the toys are made from wood, silk, cotton and beeswax. For friends I bought lots of soy wax candles that have been scented with essential oils. There are lots of different brands that are being made now and some have lovely scents that are completely 100% natural. There are many, many ways to shop safely and bring a bit of holiday cheer to your friends and family without handing out gifts loaded with chemicals! Try to keep these ideas in mind when you hit the stores this season!!
