BLOG: Plastic Free Lunches
Happy New Year! As we move into 2012 it seems there is more and more information coming out about toxins in our products and homes. I am so happy to see so many articles, websites and conversations getting started around this subject. I feel inspired to know that so many people want to be more informed about what they are using on themselves and in their homes and ultimately on our planet. I even see it in my children and their friends. I think it is so great for this next generation to be aware. One way I have found to help my children in gaining awareness without hammering it into them is by packing them toxic free lunches. I try to pack everything they eat and drink in containers that can be used over and over again, that are chemical free. I love Glaslife containers. They come in all different sizes, the lids are plastic, but they are bpa free. They are fantastic to use for packing the main course in. I sometimes pack a salad and use a second one. They stack very neatly on top of one another. For sandwiches and snacks I use cloth bags that I buy on Etsy. I like the shop bleuroo. She makes gorgeous natural cloth bags with nylon lining, NO PLASTIC! For an additional change she will embroider something delicious on the outside! Finally, I always pack them a water or coconut water. I like to put their drinks in Lifefactory glass containers. They have silicon sleeves for protection. I pack all of this into a basket for them and off they go with a healthy lunch that is nutritious and chemical free!
